Eviction Filings and Defaults in Virginia
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there were state-wide moratoria on evictions from March 16, 2020 to May 18, 2020; June 8, 2020 to June 29, 2020; and August 10, 2020 to September 7, 2020.
The CDC moratorium was in place from September 4, 2020 through August 26, 2021.
Please note that these filings counts in recent months are approximately 94% of all filings through the end of September 2021 reported by the courts. The filing rate relative to the historical average is likely higher than the values presented here.
